Fellas, the time to go abroad is finally here. Rather than waiting until the last minute to stuff a couple of shirts and pants in a duffle, we have some tips to help you pack like a pro. Let’s break this into 3 steps:
First, we have what I call the round-up stage. Lay out all of your clothes and count up how many of each item you have. Be sure to pack:
- Shirts- T’s, long and dress
- Pants- jeans, shorts and slacks
- Quality socks, underwear and undershirts
- Sneakers, dress shoes and flip flops
- Toiletries, phone, electronics and sunglasses
Second, it is time to consolidate and pack. To save space, roll each item and place the soft stuff on the bottom. Bulkier items, such as shoes, can be placed at the top. Toiletries should go in a plastic bag to prevent spillage.
Third, double-check. Go over the items you’ve packed and organize. Once you arrive in country, you will want to have quick access to your toiletries and electronics. To avoid digging through your stash of socks and underwear at Customs pack those items somewhere easily accessible.
Last and above all else, remember these essentials:
- Phone and charger
Once you feel good about what you’ve packed, you are all set. And remember to visit the ISA YouTube Channel for more helpful videos on study abroad!
